Mendo is committed to keeping our veteran community informed about important updates that may affect access to medical cannabis.

Effective April 1, 2026, the Government of Canada will reduce the Veterans Affairs Canada medical cannabis reimbursement cap from $8.50 per gram to $6.00 per gram.

We understand this news may raise questions for veterans who rely on this program for consistent, affordable access to their medicine. At Mendo, we want to reassure our community that for veterans registered with us, it will remain business as usual.

What this means for Mendo veterans

Veterans using Mendo will not be required to pay out of pocket. All products currently available to veterans on our platform will continue to be covered regardless of price. Our priority remains the same: making sure veterans continue to have access to the medical cannabis products they rely on, without disruption.

How Mendo is responding

In response to this upcoming policy change, Mendo is taking proactive steps to help protect continuity of access for veterans.

Maintaining a diverse medical selection

We will continue offering a wide range of high-quality medical products, with a focus on craft-cultivated flower and trusted medical formulations that meet patient needs.

Working closely with our suppliers

We are collaborating with our supplier partners to help reduce the impact of this policy change and support continued access to dependable medical options wherever possible.

Optimizing product formats

By offering multi-pack options and carefully structured product formats, we can help patients maximize their prescription allotments under the updated reimbursement model.

Continuing to support cannabinoid innovation

Mendo remains committed to carrying products informed by emerging cannabinoid science, including formulations with meaningful minor cannabinoid profiles that support evolving patient needs.

Our commitment remains unchanged

While policies may evolve, Mendo’s focus remains the same: supporting veterans and helping ensure reliable access to the care and products they depend on.

We know consistency matters, especially when it comes to medical access. Our team will continue working behind the scenes to protect that access and provide the support our veteran community deserves.
