Your Vaporizer Device May Be Covered.
Vaporizer Device VAC Coverage For Veterans
Veterans may be eligible for up to $400 tax included every 3 years toward approved vaporizer devices and accessories, but a separate practitioner-signed medical document is usually required. Mendo helps simplify the process with support and access to Toronto Vape’s wide device selection.
What Veterans Need To Know
In most cases, dry-herb vaporizers, concentrate vaporizers, and related accessories are not covered under a standard medical cannabis document alone. To access reimbursement, veterans generally need a separate medical document specifically for a vaporizer device. When approved, coverage is typically up to $400 tax included once every 3 years.

Devices are eligible for coverage once every 3 years

What Is Covered and What Is Not
VAC coverage rules for vaporizer devices are different from coverage for medical cannabis products. It is important to understand the distinction before submitting a request.
With a Standard Medical Document
With a standard medical cannabis document, VAC or Blue Cross typically does not cover:
- Dry-herb vaporizer devices
Concentrate vaporizer devices
Grinders
Other non-cannabis accessories
Important: Vape cartridges such as 510s and all-in-ones are cannabis products, not accessories, and are not the focus of this page.
With a Specialized Document
A vaporizer device may be eligible for reimbursement when:
You have a separate medical document specifically for a vaporizer device
The document is signed by an authorized practitioner
The total remains within the available reimbursement amount
When a Vaporizer Device May Be Reimbursed
If your practitioner provides a specialized medical document for a vaporizer device, VAC coverage may allow reimbursement for eligible devices and accessories up to:

Coverage Amount
Up to $400 tax included for a dry herb or concentrate vape device

Frequency
Devices are eligible for coverage once every 3 years

Requirements
Potentially across multiple devices or accessories, within the approved budget
