Cannabis Equialencies 101

At Mendo Medical, we recognize that cannabis products come in various forms beyond dried cannabis, including oils, sprays, and edibles. To navigate possession limits and prescriptions, understanding how these products equate to dried cannabis is essential.

Two Key Equivalency Factors:

1. Government Equivalency Factors:

  • Used to determine public possession limits.
  • Based on product weight.

2. Licensed Producers Equivalency Factors:

  • Used to calculate grams deducted from your monthly prescription.
  • Based on product formulas and cannabinoid content.
Government limits

Government Limits for Medical Cannabis:

Medical cannabis patients can possess up to 150 grams or a 30-day supply of dried cannabis, plus 30 grams for non-medical use. Equivalencies are defined to ensure compliance with these limits.

Government Equivalency Table:

  • Dried Cannabis: 1 g = 1 g dried
  • Fresh Cannabis: 5 g = 1 g dried
  • Edibles: 15 g = 1 g dried
  • Capsules/Oils/Sprays: 70 g = 1 g dried
  • Concentrates: 0.25 g = 1 g dried
  • Seeds: 1 seed = 1 g dried

Always check product labels to ensure you stay within legal limits when carrying cannabis in public. For amounts exceeding general limits, carry proper medical documentation.

Licensed Producers Equivalency Factors:

Prescriptions are written in grams of dried cannabis per day, but you can order in any format within your 30-day allowance. Different products from various brands may have unique equivalencies. Your monthly allowance and remaining balance are automatically calculated during online ordering.

Example:

  • Medical Document Allowance: 2 g/day
  • 30-day Allowance: 60 g
  • Public Possession Limit: 60 g + 30 g non-medical
